A New Campus in a New (Federal) Way

by Pastor Tim Beltz on Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

The first ever gathering for Mars Hill Federal Way took place on Monday night.
I joined Pastor Adam Sinnett and Pastor Samuel Choi at the West Seattle campus, which hosted the event. One-hundred sixty people attended the event, representing the core group who will be sent out to establish this new work of the gospel.
The [...]

A Father’s Reflection on a Mother’s Day

by Pastor Tim Beltz on Friday, May 9th, 2008

“Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them.” –Psalm 127:3–5
It happened twenty-five years ago on Mother’s Day, the day Patty and I will always remember like yesterday. [...]

I wanna be like Bezalel

by Pastor Tim Beltz on Monday, March 10th, 2008

“I wanna be like Mike” was a ubiquitous jingle during the 1990’s as our society declared its collective dream to be like the greatest basketball player in history. Last year I found an Old Testament role model more inspiring than Michael Jordan—an obscure Israelite artisan named Bezalel. His name is mentioned only once in Scripture, [...]

Working Unto the Lord

by Pastor Tim Beltz on Friday, February 29th, 2008

The purpose God intended for us is to bring glory to Jesus in all aspects of our lives, including the workplace. The workplace is such a diverse concept—it could be a home office twenty feet from one’s bedroom, it could be a battlefield, a ball field, an aircraft, a car, a truck, or a cubicle [...]

Dealing With Change

by Pastor Tim Beltz on Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

The only constant in our world is Jesus Christ. Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Everything else is changing at an increasingly faster pace.
I’m finding the rate of change at Mars Hill Church to be the second most important factor affecting our team of dedicated staff and volunteers. [...]

Who am I?

by Pastor Tim Beltz on Monday, January 7th, 2008

When it comes to a most awkward topic of “who am I” I usually dodge out of shyness and a sense of privacy, particularly when asked to write a blog on it. Blogs, in my opinion, are a freakish invention of the information age that suspend the normal laws of relationships and attempt to streamline [...]

We recently received some good news from the folks at the Crystal Cathedral – Pastor Mark’s second sermon from the Hour of Power will air on Palm Sunday, March 28th, next year.
If you remember, his first sermon was on who Jesus is. The second sermon is all about what Jesus did as our Savior on [...]

CHANGED BY JESUS - October 14th, 2009

“I didn’t care anymore”

Changed By Jesus #54
By a female teenager at the Ballard campus
I was raised going to church every Sunday. I thought I was a Christian because I was really good at following rules and thought I was an expert on Jesus. But the personal, life-changing relationship wasn’t there.
This seemed to work for me in middle school, [...]
