From the Mars Hill Receptionist

Changed by Jesus #50

Our front desk manager recently compiled encouraging notes sent to Mars Hill Church and Pastor Mark Driscoll. Here is a sampling from the past few months…

From Sydney (May 22, 2009)

I have been listening to your (awesome) sermons on 1st Corinthians and I feel convicted to offer you some encouragement. Firstly, I want to praise God for giving you such a burden to preach real sermons that are super biblically focused. Secondly, Jesus has blessed the world with your ministry. My wife and I love how much you love your wife and children. Your sermons really helped me understand how super important my role as husband is (as frightening as that is–praise God for Jesus). You are a real inspiration! Praise God!

From Whereabouts Unknown (May 26, 2009)

I am a 26-year-old Daddy, who loves his wife, and I absolutely adore my three little girls. I grew up without a dad. I was a product of a one night stand, and never really witnessed a consistent male role model/father figure. I just want to thank you for the amazing sermon “I Was a Wall.” It gave me so much encouragement, hope, and tremendous insight into being my little girls’ daddy. Thank you for speaking frank about life, and kicking my butt every time I listen to you.

From Wisconsin (March 31, 2009)

I watched you on Nightline during the debate on whether or not Satan exists. I loved how you came back immediately with intelligent, lucid rebuttals to Deepak’s misquoting of Scripture. I used to be a devout follower of Deepak, and it is amazing to see how cunning he truly is. You did a great job. Thank you for speaking the Truth, who is a person, who is Jesus Christ. I pray God’s blessings on you.

From Iowa (April 15, 2009)

I just felt drawn to tell Mars Hill and Mark D. how much is appreciated for all you do. There are no words to express my gratitude and the life-saving experience that I have experience just in the past weeks, listening to the sermons at Mars Hill with Mark D speaking…THANK YOU for hanging in there.

From Australia (May 7, 2009)

I thank and praise God for what He is doing through Mars Hill Church. Your generosity in making so much content available free of charge is amazing. I’m stoked that Mars Hill has such a huge vision for reaching the lost wherever they are, and that I now have a chance to consider how I might be able to give something back financially to support this great work, having been so encouraged and built-up by it myself.

Worship: The True Nature of Ourselves, Our Problems, and Our Solution
Often times, we underestimate the depth of our problems and see only the tip of the iceberg. Some bad behaviors we cannot stop, some fears we are unable to overcome, and frequently, we are blinded to weightier matters beneath the surface. Yet what we [...]
