Mars Hill Church to Open a School this Fall

Our goal is to start 100 campuses and help plant 1,000 churches (in partnership with Acts 29) in the next ten years, which means it’s time to rev up the leadership engine.
The Resurgence Training Center (Re:Train), led by Pastor Rick Melson, will help develop thousands of new and existing pastors and deacons with a passion for the gospel, a love for people, and a heart for Jesus and his church. The Master of Missional Leadership is the school’s flagship offering, a 36-hour graduate program that is:
- Reformed. Gospel-centered sound doctrine based on the entirety of God’s Word, the exclusivity of Jesus, and the absolute truth of his grace and sovereignty, mercy and justice, wisdom and love.
- Urban. Cities command great cultural influence and our hope is to direct that influence toward the honoring of Jesus. From the cities we want to see gospel-centered churches and campuses extend to suburban and rural areas.
- Missional. Knowledge and education are useless without a practical, efficacious, and sincere love for people.
Re:Train represents a significant effort to build a lasting legacy out of the ministry of Mars Hill Church in obedience to the Great Commission. People need Jesus, and we’ve been called as a church to aggressively expand the preaching of the gospel and to train other leaders to do the same.
Courses will be taught by respected theologians and practitioners such as John Piper, Ed Stetzer, and Bruce Ware. Re:Train will arrange for some of these instructors to offer sessions for the general public during their stay, including guest appearances for the Sunday pulpit.
Re:Train welcomes applicants from around the world, and enrollment will be extremely competitive–especially for the school’s inaugural year, which will include only 50–60 students. For those at Mars Hill, however, the good news is that church members automatically qualify for a significant scholarship.
Visit theresurgence.com/retrain for more details, including application materials and course catalog. Applications are due July 1, and class begins mid August.
