“Total Church” Author Joins the Acts 29 Team
Update: This biographical portion of this post has been corrected. The original post included details from the life of Steve Timmis’ colleague Tim Chester.
Many at Mars Hill Church are familiar with Steve Timmis; he spoke at the Ballard and West Seattle campuses earlier this year, and his book Total Church (co-authored with Tim Chester) has become required reading for our community group leaders.
This week Pastor Scott Thomas announced that Steve Timmis is now a regional director for the Acts 29 Network.

The introduction to Total Church gives you an idea of where Steve is coming from. He first served as a minister for a church in a working-class community in northern England. It was a great experience…
But for all that was good, Steve had a nagging sense of unease. The building was nearly full, but there were thousands outside. It was difficult to put his finger on it, but somehow so much of their life together as a church was inaccessible and irrelevant to those around. They loved each other, and the Bible was being taught, but he was growing increasingly aware of the almost impenetrable wall between the church and the world…If only there were a different way of doing church.
Leading Acts 29 efforts in Western Europe, Steve Timmis will continue his life’s work of starting churches–gospel communities–that reach others with the message and the love of Jesus.
During Steve’s visit in March, he gave a three-part session based on Total Church. You can access Part One, Part Two, and Part Three in The Resurgence media library.
