Calling all musicians…

By Tim Smith, Worship Pastor for Mars Hill Church
At Mars Hill Church we love good music sung loudly to the glory of Jesus. If you have ever wanted to get involved with music at Mars Hill you can learn more at Monday’s Making the Band event.
Those who serve in our music ministry fall into one of four categories, each with certain requirements. As we build up our existing campuses and make plans for more, we could use a lot of help in all of these areas:
Worship Pastor
- Qualified: according to the biblical standards for eldership (1 Tim. 2:11–15, 3:1–7; Titus 1:5–9)
- Gifted: capable as a musician and as one who must coordinate and shepherd multiple bands
- Called: possessing a passion and a calling to lead others to deeper knowledge and experience of God through music and teaching
- Leader: comfortable speaking and singing from the stage as a leader
Band Leader
- Gifted: capable as a musician and as one who must coordinate and shepherd multiple bands
- Called: possessing a passion and a calling to lead others to deeper knowledge and experience of God through music and teaching
- Leader: comfortable speaking and singing from the stage as a leader
Musician
- Humble: a servant who doesn’t need the spotlight
- Exemplary: willing and able to lead people in worship by example
- Gifted: musically capable
- Committed: all musicians must be members of Mars Hill Church
Production and Recording Operator
- Humble: a servant who doesn’t need the spotlight
- Knowledgeable: technologically gifted and inclined
- Passionate: a love for music and a desire to help support the bands as an active member of the music ministry
If you’re interested in participating in any of these areas, you’re invited to Making the Band. It’s not an audition, but rather an informational meeting to explain our music ministry, how to get connected, and the specific music-related needs at Mars Hill Church.
Please join us Monday, May 4, 7pm in The Paradox at Mars Hill Ballard.
Hope to see you there.
