Generous #6: U-Haul Trip to Olympia
Earlier this month, a few community groups in Ballard and Olympia partnered to complete the first MicroMission project.
A single mom in Ballard needed to move to Olympia, but a busted car, lack of funds, and a shortage of help left them without options. Some Ballard community groups dedicated a weekend to help the family out. Using the MicroMission fund, the groups rented a truck and then took the time to pack it up in preparation for the journey.

The mother and her children don’t attend Mars Hill, but they were very grateful for the help. The community groups introduced the family to our Olympia campus, to make sure they have a support system in their new city.
“It was a true blessing to see the whole body of the church at work,” said the community group leader in charge of this effort. Case in point, six people from three different community groups in Ballard helped on the north end of the journey, and twenty people from Olympia community groups were there to help out upon the family’s arrival.
If you have an idea for a MicroMission project in your neighborhood, talk to your community group leader and apply for a grant.
