The following story comes from Christina, a member of our Ballard campus. Christina declared her faith in Jesus by being baptized earlier this month.

The Only Explanation — Changed By Jesus #25

When my husband and I started attending Mars Hill last January, our marriage was falling apart, and I was filled with shame and despair. I felt like God didn’t want me, and I was plagued with unbelief. 

My husband and I talked to a pastor, and we took the biblical marriage class last fall. I’ve seen amazing transformation in my husband–things I can’t explain in any way other than Jesus. As my husband’s heart was turned to Jesus, I was convicted that I needed to change too. I began to pray that God would give me faith and a desire for his Word, and he did! God has been revealing himself to me everywhere, including through my husband, the Scriptures I’ve been reading, the prayers he has been answering, the sermons I have been hearing, and the Christians who have been speaking truth to me. 

God has shown me that I hadn’t accepted Jesus and Jesus alone as sufficient for salvation. He has also been showing me how holy He is, and how sinful I am. I have been made sure of Jesus’ mercy, grace, love, forgiveness, and salvation. 

I’m not sure at what point in all of this I became a Christian, but as of this fall, I know that I am his. Jesus is no longer a superstition or a philosophy or a set of rules. Jesus is my God, creator of everything, worthy of all my worship.
