Question #5: What are some non-sexual ways to build marital intimacy?

This set of posts comes from Pastor Mark Driscoll and his wife Grace. The sermon series The Peasant Princess brought up dozens of questions that they felt they should respond to. The result is this blog series: Christian Sex: Frank Answers to Honest Questions.

Answer: There are many, so ask your spouse, but they include:

  1. Giving gifts, big and small
  2. Massaging
  3. Cuddling
  4. Having heartfelt conversation (actually paying attention and responding well)
  5. Bathing together
  6. Holding hands
  7. Sitting together, walking together, and simply being together
  8. Calling, emailing, and/or text messaging one another throughout the day
  9. Handwriting notes, cards, and love letters
  10. Serving one another in practical ways and being willing to help with whatever your spouse needs
  11. Walking with God so that you are a safe, trustworthy person
  12. Snuggling, petting, cuddling, kissing, and chatting after sex instead of just falling asleep
  13. Worshiping God together in prayer, ministry service, song, and Bible study
