Spring 2008 at MHC: The Call to Mission

The “Call to Mission” is how we’re describing the collective effort this spring (and beyond) to renew, dedicate, and consecrate our commitment to Jesus and the mission he has given our church. In order to establish this call for transformation, maturity, and fruitfulness, updating and improving the way we care and provide for people at Mars Hill.

The Call to Mission efforts include:

  • The City—: our new and improved online network.
  • Doctrine—: Pastor Mark’s next sermon series (starting this Sunday) that will also serve as our new and improved member class.
  • An updated member process for prospective members of the Mars Hill family.
  • Current members will be asked to renew their commitment.

All of this will be celebrated and further explained at the All-Member Meeting (4/21), and we will dedicate and consecrate our efforts for Jesus’ glory with the church-wide day of prayer and fasting on April 22 (keep an eye on this blog for more details surrounding that particular event).

In response to and in anticipation of many of your questions, we’ve set up a Call to Mission website to collect and explain all of the details—practical, theological, and philosophical. In addition to an extensive FAQ section, the Call to Mission page includes the updated member covenant, an introduction to The City, and other documents.

The website is a work in progress; more information will be posted as we’re able to compile it, and some periphery details are subject to change. But I hope the Call to Mission website proves to be a helpful guide over the next few months and beyond—especially for those who are a part of our church family, and those who wish to join.

Please join the Mars Hill pastors in prayer during this crucial and exciting time for our church.

Various cults, aberrant sects, and perverts make the case that the Bible does mention polygamy and so it is biblically acceptable. However, they fail to acknowledge that the Bible speaks of human sin [...]

“I didn’t care anymore”

Changed By Jesus #54
By a female teenager at the Ballard campus
I was raised going to church every Sunday. I thought I was a Christian because I was really good at following rules and thought I was an expert on Jesus. But the personal, life-changing relationship wasn’t there.
This seemed to work for me in middle school, [...]
